Southern Pine Savannah Restoration, Caroline County, VA - planted in 1990, thinned in 2007, then thinned to 40 basal feet per acre in 2019.

    Early blueberry regrowth after the 2nd prescribed burn. This photo was taken less than 10 weeks after the March 10, 2026  burn.

   This property was littered with Blueberry bushes before the 2019 thinning and now, after 2 burns, has even more!

     Many of our building products originate from the forest in one way or another, yet timberland management is often completely overlooked in favor of producing those materials as quickly and cheaply as possible.

     Prescribed burns and prolonged timber harvest intervals ensure that wildlife also benefit from our actively managed forests.
